Dr. John A. Petrakis is assistant professor of politics at Hillsdale College, where he teaches American constitutionalism and political thought. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and two law degrees (J.D. and B.C.L.) from McGill University. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Petrakis clerked at the Federal Court of Canada.
In his research, Dr. Petrakis draws on his expertise in American and Canadian law to examine how different constitutional systems deal with controversial moral issues, especially assisted suicide and euthanasia. He is also interested in comparative federalism jurisprudence and political philosophy.
