I have a deep interest in the political theory of the American Founding, focusing on whether we should view modern liberalism’s emphasis on egalitarianism and positive rights as an inevitable product of America’s founding principles, or as the product of a so-called philosophical ‘wrong turn.’ Thus, I also have a deep interest in understanding how the dominant view of equality in America went from the natural equality of the Declaration of Independence to the egalitarianism of someone like John Rawls
